Description

French for Healthcare Professionals: Low Intermediate is designed for current or future health care professionals who wish to improve their communication skills in French. The course focuses on oral skills necessary to function effectively and professionally in real-life healthcare settings.

Topics Covered

Classes will provide instruction in listening and speaking at a low intermediate level. Course content, which includes grammatical structures, phonetics, thematic vocabulary, functional expressions and strategies, aims to help students consolidate the communicative and linguistic skills required to operate in various daily work-related situations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Use general and semi-specialized vocabulary specific to daily work-related topics;
  • Ask and answer a variety of questions related to workplace contexts;
  • Produce a variety of simple oral messages in partly predictable settings;
  • Give detailed information on work-related issues;
  • Speak concisely about past and future events;
  • Interact with French speakers within daily work-related situations;
  • Understand the general meaning of oral exchanges in partly predictable contexts.

Notes

As the course will be delivered online, students must be equipped with:

  • A computer or tablet
  • Internet connection

In order to continue to the next level, learners must complete both the online and the face-to-face courses for this level.
