Description

Toxicity and poisoning are frequently encountered in the emergency department and can carry a high morbidity or mortality risk. Significant improvement in patient outcomes results with rapid diagnosis, collaboration and appropriate management with the multiple physician teams involved. 

Drawing on the expertise of toxicologists and educators, the purpose of this 3-module online course is to provide a practical approach to managing patients poisoned with commonly used substances.

Emergency care physicians and medical students, nurses, poison information specialists, pharmacists and other emergency care professionals.

This activity is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada established an agreement with the American Medical Association (AMA) where Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) approved for Royal College MOC credits are eligible for conversion to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

 

This Self Learning program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by the Office of Continuing Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University for up to 2 Mainpro+ credits per module.


The Toxic Alcohol Module is 90 minutes in duration
The Acetaminophen Module is 60 minutes in duration
The Salicylates Module is 60 minutes in duration

You have 90 days to complete each module.
