This first module of the eight-module micro-credential training program aims to introduce the fundamental concepts of networking and command-line interfaces in traditional and cloud environments. The core concepts of cloud computing, cloud infrastructure, modern virtualization, and various cloud architectures.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this module, you should be able to:

  • Recognize the main components and protocols in the computer network.
  • Perform basic system administration tasks in the command line interface.
  • Describe cloud service layers (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Describe various cloud computing architectures and deployment models.
  • Describe different visualization technologies and their functionality in providing cloud services for users at scale. 

Notes

This module is the first of the two introductory modules forming part of the Micro-credential in Cloud Security. Upon completion of the 2 introductory modules, participants receive a Digital Badge from McGill’s School of Continuing Studies in Cloud Security Fundamentals.
