Description

This workshop focuses on the strategies and tools necessary to succeed on the TEF, TEF Canada, and TEFaQ written tests. This is a 7-hour course. Students will attend 6 hours of instruction (1 hour per week) by a person experienced in teaching and assessing writing skills. One hour of one-on-one feedback and coaching will also be provided where students will receive detailed written feedback on each of the 10 written productions completed during the workshop. The training is therefore 7 hours in total.

Topics Covered

  • The structure of the test and of the texts that test-takers must produce;
  • Specific grammatical structures useful for producing these texts;
  • Specific vocabulary useful for producing these texts.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this workshop, students should be able to:

  • Produce a descriptive text and an argumentative text.
  • Apply time management strategies for the written expression test.
  • Use formal vocabulary related to social issues.
  • Adjust the register of their written language appropriately.
  • Express their opinions in a structured manner.
  • Have confidence in their written expression skills.

Notes

As the workshop will be delivered online in synchronous mode, the students will need to have:

  • A computer or tablet with web camera
  • Internet connection

Prerequisite(s) and Corequisite(s)

A minimum of a strong A2 or B1 level in French

Who Should Attend?

Students who have at least a low intermediate level (A2 strong or B1) and who need to reach the high intermediate level (B2) of the TEF writing test and its derivatives: TEFaQ and TEF Canada
