Description

Fossil fuels provide 80% of the world's energy, and disruptions to oil tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz have prompted some governments to curb economic activity to reduce energy use. This study group will explore how energy is produced, distributed, and consumed in Canada and globally. Specific topics will depend to a certain extent on participants’ interests but will include changes over time in energy production and use, renewable and non-renewable energy sources, bitumen vs conventional oil production, and Hydro-Quebec’s Action Plan 2035.
