Description

Peru and Argentina are two countries with proud indigenous pasts. They developed multiracial and multicultural societies during three centuries under Spanish colonial rule and then evolved quite differently as independent countries. We will use handouts, maps, videos and discussions to learn about the Inca Empire, Spanish conquerors, courageous missionaries, Indian rebels, revolutionary generals, British capitalists, Italian, Japanese and Jewish immigrants, Evita Peron, and the mothers of the disappeared.
