Description

The Age of Discovery, spanning the 15th to17th centuries, was a period of European maritime exploration that reshaped global history. Driven by advances in navigation, shipbuilding, and cartography, explorers like Columbus, Vasco da Gama and Magellan ventured into uncharted waters. Their voyages connected continents, launched the Columbian Exchange of goods and diseases, and established European colonial empires. Accelerating global trade and cultural exchange, this era also brought devastating consequences for Indigenous populations through conquest, exploitation, and disease.
