Description

Like the Romans, the British built a great empire. During their 350-year reign in India, they founded great cities, established various institutions, and constructed impressive edifices. They also created more than 100 resorts or hill stations, where they spent long summers to escape the heat of the tropical plains; and to rule from these comfortable surroundings, they built roads, railways, and a communication network. The discussion group will explore the major physical, architectural, and socio-cultural legacies of that period, shaping India and Britain alike.
