Description

Given its importance geopolitically, particularly in the era of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, a study of Russian history through the prism of its tsars, including the Red Tsars, seems timely. The focus will be not only on the life and times of the individual tsars, but also on the major historical threads running through several centuries, which explain how Russia is governed. While much has changed in Russia over the centuries, both internally and externally, the many remaining constants are remarkable, e.g. statism, nationalism, and the search for control, order, unity and conservatism.
