Description

Our study group will look at political revolutions -- political attempts to overthrow the government of a country (not industrial, cultural, or scientific revolutions). Why do men rebel? Why now? Is it because they face violence, a corrupt government, lack of economic opportunity, or due to deprivation based on employment, taxation, political structures, or class issues? Do revolutions cause change, or is change the cause of revolutions? Can individuals be the driving force? We will discuss who “won”, the major political and economic impacts, and if things changed for the ordinary person. We will include the English Revolution-Civil War, American Revolution, French Revolution, Russian Revolution and several others. An initial list will be distributed after registration.
