Description

The film The Substance creates a gripping and unsettling narrative that exposes the intersection of age discrimination (ageism) and the objectification of women. Rooted in the core principles of ageism—systemic prejudice, institutional barriers, and internalized biases—this workshop will explore how the film exploits the horror genre while reflecting and amplifying these issues. Together we will analyze and discuss the film through the lens of ageism, highlighting how the entertainment industry repackages legitimate concerns and turns them into consumable trends. Arrangements will be made for screening the film.
