Description

This course is designed for professionals with a basic knowledge of French. Its aim is to help learners acquire and develop skills in understanding and expressing spoken French at an ELEMENTARY LEVEL. The course includes a systematic study of vocabulary, speech acts, grammatical structures and the French phonetic system corresponding to this level. Activities will be organized and presented within the framework of themes linked to real-life professional situations.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Find their way around and provide information using a variety of locative expressions
  • Place an order on the phone or online and leave a message
  • Describe and characterize (a product, a service, a person)
  • Make and cancel reservations by phone or online
  • Summarize needs, intentions and wishes
  • Initiate, maintain and close a simple conversation, in person or online.

Successful completion of the Beginner 2 level of F@W (1 course), placement test, or departmental permission

A series of six weekly 1.5 h courses will be held on Thursday from 12:30PM to 2:00PM.
Additional 30min speaking practice per week in small discussion groups - schedule to be confirmed during the week 1 of the course.
