Description

This course is designed for professionals with a basic knowledge of French. Its aim is to help learners acquire and develop skills in understanding and expressing spoken French at an ELEMENTARY LEVEL. The course includes a systematic study of vocabulary, speech acts, grammatical structures and the French phonetic system corresponding to this level. Activities will be organized and presented within the framework of themes linked to real-life professional situations.

Titles and functions/office furniture and equipment/climate and working conditions/sports and recreation/tasks and skills/protocol of written communications

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Request/give information about people, places and activities
  • Situate in space and describe a workplace, daily activities and habits
  • Express: a need, a taste, a desire, a preference, feelings, a problem
  • Plan a social activity (sport, trip, cultural visit, etc.)
  • Invite, accept or decline an invitation
  • Write e-mails, simple letters, and memos, respecting basic rules of protocol and layout.

Prerequisite(s) and Corequisite(s)

Successful completion of the Beginner 2 level of F@W (1 course), placement test, or departmental permission
